Week 3 is going too fast

The heat of the summer has been followed by a soaking rain that has become one of the coldest days in years at Hartwick.  Regardless of the weather swim camp goes on and the spirits of the campers is incredible.

We have covered Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke.

Hartwick College Swim Camp Survivor is in full swing with tomorrow night Karaoke Challenge in the wings.

The campers spent the afternoon at Gilbert Lake and enjoyed the down time.

Every week I am so impressed at how the campers are so interested in improving and working hard.  It is inspiring!

Time flies when you are having fun.

This has been a very busy and hot week but it has not stopped what is turning into an incredible week II of Swim Camp here at Hartwick.

All 4 strokes have been covered, a trip to the Oneonta Outlaws baseball game, a trip to the lake, and of course Hartwick College Swim Camp Survivor.

The common theme this week has been the swimmers getting feedback and making positive adjustments.

Tomorrow is another day.

A rain storm doesn't dampen the fun at Hartwick Swim Camp!

Wednesday brought a bit of rain to Oneonta and we had to cancel our trip to the lake.

That didn't damper the spirits of the campers or staff and we got a full day of Breaststroke and finished the day with Swim Camp Survivor.

A group a team actually put Jenna into a swimming cap in 1.18 seconds.  It was amazing watching all them all have fun.

Today started out with Coach Dale starting Butterfly and the kids were amazing.

The buses pulled out and the camp headed to Gilbert Lake for some fun and sun.

We wrapped up the day with Karaoke and it was so much fun to see them having fun and being kids.

Tomorrow we get closer to the last day of Week 1 and finish up Butterfly and end with our Talent Show.

Crazy, Hot, and a lot accomplished!

Greetings from Week 1...

It has been a crazy HOT and full couple of days...

Here are some of the highlights:

Sunday...Campers meeting, laughter, a great session on Streamlining, ICE CREAM, sleep.

Monday...HOT 64 campers woke up for Early Bird...a great day of Freestyle that I presented.  So much SMART Swimming.  Everyone I could look at (all 86 of them) and tell them something that was better.  A lot of hydration, our first Specialty Group and the start of Hartwick College Swim Camp Survivor.

Tuesday...54 campers headed to Early Bird practice...not as HOT, A great Backstroke session lead by Coach Paul, Pizza and Movie Night.

Some quotes..."A best time in the 50 Freestyle deserves an Ice Cream"
"Never Sacrifice a good stroke for Speed"
                       "Breathing is OVERrated"
                       "Lane 5...Welcome to Exile Island"

This is a great group of spirited campers.  Tomorrow is Breaststroke Day with Coach Matt and a trip to the Lake.  We continue Swim Camp Survivor with the Scavenger Hunt and 59 campers head to Early Bird practice.

Hartwick Swim Camp 2013 is here!

As I wake up this morning in Oneonta, the new morning brings another summer of Hartwick Swim Camp.

3 weeks and just over 250 swimmers will take to the pool to learn to Swim Smart.

Hartwick has a great 8 lane pool to hold all of the swimmers.  It is a great camp to teach and allow every swimmer to learn what they need to in order for them to get to the next level.

Hartwick is one of the few camps (it may be the only one) that runs from Sunday to Saturday.  It gives us a full week to cover just about everything when it comes to swimming and also do a lot of fun activities along the way.

This is my 12th year and I can't wait to get started.

Be sure to check here for daily updates.
